Seven photos for seven years

Matt and I celebrated our 7-year wedding anniversary September 19. I found a sitter I liked on a local website and luckily, she was available to watch Dex while we sneaked out for dinner. We went to Cow & Pig for upscale British pub food and bovine puns written on chalkboards. (Something in the way she moos… attracts me like no other udder…)

Started with something called a bacon bomb, and then Matt had a steak and I had LOBSTER SHEPERD’S PIE, man alive, that is a good idea for a dish. Ciders and desserts and a little walk through downtown before it was time to return to real life.

Site note, before I get to the pics – our crate of stuff was postponed yet again, and now we’re looking at first week of October, at the earliest, before our ship comes in. (I keep saying that in a dramatic Southern lady accent. I don’t know why.) We are possibly getting too used to our bare place. Hell, we hit Ikea again over the weekend and splurged on an unplanned armchair and were admiring how homey it now looks, in comparison to before. Did not occur to us how creepy it would be, to be a babysitter, walking into a mostly unfurnished house. When we showed her Dex’s room she gasped and lamented, with a mix of shock and pity, “It is so empty…”

We know, babysitter. We know. I swear, we own normal human things and are not at all serial killers who have lured you into our bare murder house. It’s not us. It’s the ship.

Okay, seven years with Matt, the guy who defines partner, for me.

Jamie Day, symphony under a space shuttle, New Orleans, trip to NYC where everyone though I was pregnant because I wasn’t drinking but I was just on antidepressants, Jaime leaves, Watermark turns 20, Mollie+family visit, we make Dexter and we’re really, really scared about it.

Here is Matt demonstrating exemplary patience while I try to get a decent photo of our new Facebook pride shirts.

2013: This is the year that rocked us. We made Reed and Spencer, we lost Reed and Spencer, we kept on loving them, anyway. Color Run, visiting Mollie in Ohio, rubber duckie race, Matt’s ICU scare, epic Serial Thrillers Disney day, Shenanigans Awards at the hotel, San Francisco, therapeutic beach mimosas.

We've had some damn good Halloween costumes over the years but this one has to be my favorite. I think. Maybe.
